大同古城墙取消门票收费制度并实施全面开放

　　大同市人民政 府关于取消大同古城墙门票收费并实施全面开放的通告
　　
　　大同山环采凉，水抱桑乾，三朝古都，历史文化名城风采卓然。明洪武五年，大将军徐达于魏唐辽元旧城基础增筑新城，形成大同方十四里之古城格局。然历经沧桑的古城墙经岁月侵蚀渐显残破。近年来，大同市把文化旅游业作为新战略性支柱产业，先后投资50多亿元，搬迁周边居民商户2万余户，东南北西四面城墙保护修复渐次拉开，古城墙雄姿重现，护城河玉带环绕，带状公园景色宜人，登上城墙，古都风貌尽收眼底。丰富多彩的各类文化活动，更为古城墙赋予了现代与古朴交汇融合的文化底蕴。为了进一步方便游客与市民游览观光、休闲健身，让人民共享城市建设发展成果，更好领略古城风貌，在周长7000余米的古城墙即将全面合拢之际，大同市人民政 府决定，取消大同古城墙门票收费制度，向所有登临古城墙的国内外游客全面开放。具体通告如下：

　　为确保游览活动安全有序，在开放期间，需游客持本人有效证件（居民身份证、驾驶本、护照、军官证、士兵证、武警警官证、人民警察证、老年证、残疾人证、旅游一卡通、公交IC卡、公共自行车租赁专用IC卡等）在大同古城墙各入口处免费领取游览劵，凭劵进入。
　　
　　五、温馨提示
　　
　　在市政 府主办或批准举办各类活动期间，将局部或全部需暂停大同古城墙免费开放。市政 府授权古城墙管理部门提前予以告示，由此造成的不便尚请谅解。

　　Notice of Free Entry to the Datong City Wall
　　
　　Datong is surrounded by the Cailiang Mountain through which flows the Sanggan River. Datong served as the capital during three ancient dynasties, and has thus been proclaimed as an ancient cultural and historic city in China. The ancient city wall of Datong was built in the 5th year of the Hongwu Period during the Ming Dynasty (1372) by Xu Da, senior general of the Ming Dynasty. In building it he utilized the old ramparts of the previous Northern Wei, Tang, Liao, and Yuan Dynasties. The Datong city wall has four sides covering an area of 3.28 sq. km. Unfortunately, over the last hundred years or so, the wall has sustained quite a bit of damage, caused both by nature and man. Much of the original city wall lies in ruins.
　　
　　In recent years, the Datong local *** has been making cultural tourism the main focus of its post-industrial transformation. A total of 5 billion Yuan has been invested in the reconstruction of the city, and more than 20,000 households have been relocated to new housing developments. The preservation and restoration of the city wall began at the east, and then the south, north and west walls will be completed respectively.  The Datong City wall will be restored to its original magnificent scale and appearance as in ancient times, including a moat and park, which will completely surround the city wall. The finished wall will be more than 7,000 m. in length. Walking along the top of the city wall will give tourists a bird’s-eye view of all the ancient city of Datong. The colorful cultural events and activities on the city wall will bring a charming combination of tradition and modernity to the ancient city.
　　
　　With the goal of attracting more tourists and local citizens to travel to Datong and view the development and construction of the ancient city and the surrounding wall in mind, the Datong local *** has made the decision to allow tourists, both at home and from abroad, to have the opportunity to tour the new city wall free of charge.  Following is more specific information concerning the ancient city wall and items of interest for tourists.

　　IV. Types of Certification Required for Entry
　　
　　In order to guarantee the safety of the tourists, and proper management of all areas, all tourists will be required to collect a free ticket from the ticket office after showing a valid form of ID (e.g. identification card, driving license, passport, military official certificate, military soldier certificate, police officer certificate, the people's police certificate, senior citizen certificate, disabled persons permit, tourist annual pass, public bus IC card and public bicycle rental IC card).
　　
　　V. FYI
　　
　　During any public event sponsored or approved by the Datong local ***, some sections or all of the city wall may be closed. The Datong Ancient City Wall Preservation Committee will give notice to the public after gaining authority from the Datong local ***. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience these events may bring you.
